Hello and welcome to your first violin lesson! Today we will learn about the violin and the different parts of the instrument and how to hold it correctly. The violin has four strings: G, D, A and E. Each string corresponds to a different note and produces a different sound when played. The neck of the violin is fretless and is divided into different positions that correspond to the placement of the fingers on the string to produce different notes.

Let's start learning the various parts of the violin. The main part of the violin is called the "trunk" or "sound box". The strings are stretched across a "bridge" that sits on the "belly" of the violin. The neck of the violin has no scratches and is divided into different positions corresponding to different notes.

Now we learn how to hold the violin correctly. Hold the violin in your left hand and place the "roll" (the decorative piece at the top of the neck) against your left shoulder. The chin should rest on the "chin rest" in the lower left corner of the violin.

Now that you have a proper grip on the violin, let's go over the notes. To produce different notes on the violin, the player presses his finger along the neck of the string at a certain point. The player must use his ear to determine if he is playing the correct note.

Let's begin by learning the chromatic notes of the first four notes of each chord. The G string has the notes G, G#, A, and A#. The D string has the notes D, D#, E, and F. The A string has the notes A, A#, B, and C. And the E string has the notes E, F, F#, and G. Play each note by placing your finger in the corresponding position and play with a bow with a bow. The bow is held in the right hand and should be held at a slight angle to the string.
